Mansfield (A) - Match Thread

We’ve been pretty poor the first half. Fevrier shouldn’t have lost the ball for the goal and Addai should have stopped that all day!

Fortunately we’re back in it through another Wootton header.

We’re attacking the County end this half, hopefully we can attack them and they’ll crumble, as much as we’ve been poor the first half, they don’t look great either, it’s anyone’s game

I’m with you on this. We’ve been bad in spells and they’ve not done much other than capitalise on our error, but not much else in open play.

I just wish JK wouldn’t make it sound like we’re about to score every time we pass the halfway line .

Unlucky that. Grew into that second half as it went on, I thought Mansfield were getting frustrated and tried to slow down our game.

On another day Tanto’s shot would have gone in and we’d be talking about another 3 points.

Onto the next one!

Interesting game I thought. Started well and they then came into it and got the goal. We then seemed to spend a lot of time passing along the back and not getting very far. Improved into the second half and I thought we were going to get a winner but it wasn’t to be. Ref was a bit lenient I thought with some of their tacking!

@Wayne I thought the Ref was losing it at times. Some of their tackling went unpunished when I thought he could have given a yellow.

As for our play I don’t think it was that they were difficult to break down, I just think we were a bit too safe with it at times.

@CountyMad the referee wasn’t great at times but was probably just as bad for both sides.

One thing that’s not been mentioned, I thought Will Swann looked bright for them on Saturday, led the line well and ran back winning the ball back a few times.

He always looked lovely for Newport, I’m not suggesting we should have gone in for him but he’s certainly not a bad striker at all.
